Who owns the Museum's collection?
The Museum's collection is held in trust for the Canadian people by the Museum's Board of Trustees.

I thought Professor Kirk Wipper owned the Museum ... is he still involved?
Professor Wipper does not own the Museum, although he originally collected most of the craft that were acquired by the Museum in 1995. Professor Wipper is still involved with the Museum, acting as a volunteer resource person for the collection.

How old is the Museum? When did first you open?
The Museum first opened its doors on July 1, 1997. However, the collection was actually started in the late 195Os by Professor Kirk Wipper.

Do you offer courses in canoe building?
Yes, the Museum offers canoe-building courses. These are usually offered in the summer months to accommodate the week needed to run the course.

How long does a self-guided tour take?
While a self-guided tour can last as long as you want it to, it usually takes visitors about one-and-a-half hours to travel through the Museum.
