Collection & Exhibits


The Canadian Canoe Museum's collection and exhibits are organized in two areas of the Museum.

The Collection Centre

The Collection Centre houses the Museum's entire collection of 600 craft. The collection features canoes and kayaks from across Canada, as well as watercraft from around the world. Craft not on special exhibit in the Weston National Heritage Centre will be on open display when renovations are completed.


The Weston National Heritage Centre

Click for larger version The Weston National Heritage Centre houses the Museum's nine feature exhibits:  The Grand Portage, Origins Gallery, Trade & Alliance, Preserving Skills Gallery, The Land Becomes Canada, It Wasn't All Work, Summer Strokes, The Peterborough Tradition and Reflections: The Land, The People and The Canoe.  These exhibits show how the canoe has defined the story of Canada and its people.
